As the climate crisis escalates, it becomes our responsibility to assess how our brand can reduce its impact at every step. Our celebration of artistry and commitment to slow design ensures the long life of our products... which hopefully also equals less landfill waste.
We only start making your item(s) once you tell us to. We avoid mass production and make every item to order.
We keep our shipping costs and carbon emissions low as everything is made in one facility. Your product is made under one roof and sent directly to you.
We use very little water in our manufacturing process and work with the water board to ensure ink waste is disposed of properly so nothing leaks into the environment.
We are always increasing our offering, and currently have a range of 100% vegan, natural, biodegradable and organic products as well as items that we produce from recycled materials. We source from the EU where possible and use FSC certified materials.
We’ve reduced our fabric waste output by offering the fabric remnants free to crafters and DIY-ers who wanted a creative challenge. The offcuts then get repurposed and some of the results have been amazing.
Unfortunately, there are still brands that take advantage of unethical child labour laws, creating garments that come at a heavy cost to people and the planet. This is just to keep their own costs down and maximise profit. We’re proud to say we’re not one of those companies. Since Contrado’s inception in 2003, one of our core values has been to be a one-stop shop: to create everything to order in house.
