How your tote bag printing is done
Your designs are printed directly onto the leather using the most up-to-date printing methods. These techniques have been specifically developed for leather tote bag printing and ensure that the inks are permanently bonded to the fibres of the material. This makes your women's leather tote bag design as strong as the leather that it is printed on. We use stunning Nappa leather to make your tote bags and as with all high-end leather products, the print can lift if you scuff the leather. This is most apparent in corners and along the bottom, and we advise that you take extra care with your Kika women's leather tote bag printing. This is then cut to size and shape by extremely talented craftsmen before our expert seamstresses stitch it together using the thread colour of your choice.
The Nappa leather is sourced via Italian tanneries for printing and finishing in our own in-house atelier studio. This work is by hand and to order. As a full-grain, bovine-calf leather, it is graded to the highest level for print and manufacturing quality.
Design Tips
Add a splash of colour to your sophistication with a Kika custom tote. The perfect finishing touch to any outfit, whether it be formal or everyday wear, a women's leather tote bag custom printed makes a great statement piece, bringing a splash of colour or an intricate design to your look. Design yours in a way that complements your entire wardrobe rather than just one piece, and truly experience the full versatility of such a fantastic staple.
Available in two different sizes, you can ensure you choose the best women's leather tote bag for your needs. The small bag is 26cm in height with a depth of 16cm. This is 46cm at the top and 36.3cm at the base of the bag, giving you that classic tote style. For those who like to carry around a little more with them, it's worth considering the large tote. At 32cm high and with a depth of 17cm, this Kika Raw Edge Tote is 46cm at the top and 43.3cm at the base. This larger size is fantastic for keeping everything you could need, including your laptop, as well as your notepad and other items. Both size bags feature 42cm strong leather straps, which have a 21cm drop from the handle top to the top edge of the bag, and an internal pocket measuring 21cm x 15cm; perfect for carrying or for popping over your shoulder.

Print Guideline
-
What's the best resolution to print in?
We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.
-
Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?
For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.
-
Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?
We advise providing images in the RGB colour space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best colour results. What does this mean? In your editing software choose RGB as the working space, and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
-
What does GSM mean?
Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).
-
What are bleed areas?
When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.
-
Do you print on garments a customer supplies?
Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better-finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.
-
Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?
We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.
-
Can I print my own Labels?
Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding! If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.
-
How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?
With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfilment.
Is it just the outisde of this bag I can print?
It's not, you can fully customise the outer surface of your Kika women's leather tote bag as well as the inside pocket too! If you would rather keep your design to the outside of the bag, you can opt for a plain black leather pocket instead - that's the beauty, the choice is entirely yours.
What colour options do I have for the thread?
We use special stitching thread when we make leather products, as it is thicker and stronger than our standard threads. We have introduced our thread in four different colours: charcoal, cream, red, and blue, so you can choose the one that best complements your Kika tote design.
Is it the same design used throughout the bag?
Again, this one is entirely down to you! Using our online design interface, you can design the front, back, and optional pocket individually. This gives you the scope to use the same design on all three, or totally different ones. You're the designer for the Kika tote.
